Jewelry Goes Big at the Alma Awards

Like to gawk at big jewels? The red carpet to the Alma Awards brought huge fine jewelry looks from some of Hollywood's biggest stars.
The 2009 Alma Awards taped last night in Los Angeles, and the red carpet was glittering in diamonds, gems and gold galore. Honoring outstanding Latino artistic achievement in television, film and music, the show brought out A-listers like Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz in addition to TV divas, Eva Longoria Parker and Jamie Lynn Sigler.
Salma stunned the crowd with her silver Botegga Veneta slip dress and a gorgeous vintage crystal bib necklace with a matching headband and clutch. And she didn't go away empty-handed, winning the coveted Antony Quinn Award for Industry Excellence.
Jamie Lynn Sigler continued the statement jewel trend with a turquoise look that rivaled Eva Mendes' necklace at this year's Golden Globe Awards (trend alert: turquoise is going to be big well into next spring).
And host, Eva Longoria Parker, wore simple yellow gold triangle drop earrings in her first of seven(!) costume changes during the course of the evening.
Thankfully, there wasn't a jewelry fashion faux pas quite like last year's Paula Abudl appearance (check out our Jewelry Insider blog for more). Whew!
